What is Data Migration?

Data migration is the process of transferring data from one location, format, or system to another. This is a crucial step in maintaining the integrity, accessibility, and security of data, especially when moving to new storage systems, upgrading software, or transitioning to cloud environments.

Data migration is a critical component of IT disaster recovery planning, providing the foundation for data protection, availability, and resilience. By ensuring data is accurately and securely transferred to backup locations and systems, organizations can mitigate the impact of disasters, maintain business continuity, and protect valuable information assets.

Google Workspace Migrate

As your organization’s administrator, you can migrate data to your Google Workspace account using Google Workspace Migrate. You set up Google Workspace Migrate on a group of Microsoft Windows machines. You can run Google Workspace Migrate on-premises or in the cloud.

Google Workspace Migrate allows you to move large amounts of content into a Google Workspace domain. With Google Workspace Migrate, you can manage large-scale migrations into multiple Google Workspace core services from a single place.

Steps before starting Migration

1. Make sure that Google Workspace Migrate is right for you.
